Classic contemporary kitchen that stands the test of time
This narrow room was transformed into a sociable family space, with unique feature island, variety of cooking appliances and a modular, streamlined aesthetic.
When we returned to a kitchen that we designed and fitted more than 10 years ago, it’s refreshing to see that the design is still current and timeless. This impressive space is a striking feature in this Penarth home. The real eye-catching element is the central island with integrated table. The glass surface protruding through the Corian column, floating between the two structures.
The design detail continued on the back elevation, with the Corian framing the island, creating unique interest to the scheme. The white colour was used throughout, alongside accent colours, introduced with the addition of accessories. This is a great way to add character and vibrancy whilst being easily changed over time, if trends and tastes change. Another feature was the backlit open shelving, a perfect place to showcase glassware and ornaments without cluttering the worktops.
Achieving timeless design comes with its own challenges but it can be achieved with simple, well-thought through schemes, neutral colours and feature elements.
